Fortresses of the Mind

We are engaged in “spiritual warfare,” fighting against forces of evil, from the “world, the flesh and the devil.” The battlefield of that warfare is often in our own mind and feelings.

II Corinthians 10:4-5

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Notice the words “strongholds” (fortresses) and “thoughts.” The fortresses are made up of thoughts—think of it like a small castle in your mind.

Housing Our Thoughts

The source of good and evil is in the spirit; thoughts and emotions are in the soul realm.  However, there is a third level, and that is the brain.  The brain is in the physical realm.  Brain cells are the organs in the body which contain the thoughts of the mind.

As I write this, I see words appearing on a computer screen.  For those letters to appear, they must be stored up somewhere on a silicon chip, either in my computer or in the cloud of storage bank computers.

So it is with our thoughts. Words and mind pictures must have a bodily unit which “house” them.  The units of the brain that embody those thought streams are called “synapses.” Synapses are a matrix of brain cells that contain our thoughts, much the way a computer holds information in storage.

These grouping of brain cells containing words and pictures are like a fortress or a stronghold.  Whatever we do or say creates physical storage banks in our brain cells. These may be good or bad, but they are there.  When we want to change our behavior, it’s like we are tearing down the synapses, and reprogramming those brain cells with correct information.

Everything we think, say or do forms a block of cells in our brain – a “brick” in the wall. Each synapsis contains an electro-magnetic charge. This is the spiritual power of good and evil resident in bodily form.

Spiritual Rearranging

We can’t just have nice intentions floating around. We have to focus our words, thoughts and actions to change the physical composition of these mind fortresses.  We wage war against these evil blocks of brain cells.

We fight that war by spiritual weapons. Our weapons are correct, Spirit-led words, thoughts and actions. We submit to the will of God; meditate on Scriptures; speak the Truth (out loud); and act in obedience to Yeshua.

The point is that spiritual warfare is REAL.  The strongholds of the mind are much more REAL than we ever realized. Therefore, we must change our words, thoughts and actions in a more REAL way than we ever realized.

We keep speaking and acting in love and righteousness until the physical composition of the cells in our brain are rearranged to that of love and righteousness.   We keep going until every thought is correctly aligned to the obedience and purity of Yeshua.

Thank you Asher and Betty for this beautiful witness of our authority in Yeshua. It is an excellent visual and a most necessary disciplined instruction from the heart of our Abba, Father. Thank you as we begin our focused path in humility to receive the heart of Abraham as we continue to experience the perfect love of our Father God in this new season coming forth from the Tikkun Conference. Thank you for waving high the banner, the standard, the rallying point to keep our eyes on Yeshua’s Word out of Jerusalem. It is a most beautiful day here in Pittsburgh and we are so grateful for your signal beckoning, “wisdom crying out in the streets “ worldwide.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old received divine approval.” Hebrews 11:1-2

“Like a nursing mother cherished her children, in this way we were yearning for you. We were delighted to share with you not only the Good News but also our very souls, because you had become dear to us…” 1 Theso. 2:7

Wishing you a most blessed Shabbat Shalom and even a Happy, ‘spiritual daddy’ Day this Sunday… We love the family of Tikkun Global and our praise to Anna Father for great things He has done and continues to train us for!
Thank you… our prayers surrounding you all!

Coincidences? Having just completed a note of thanks to my therapist, I turned to my emails just now to tidy up before Shabbat. First on the screen: Revive’s update. Post stroke & learning to walk again after a broken femur, I thought I’d never do stairs again, especially in and out of our flat. With the therapist’s encouragement and positive expectation, those steps were achieved yesterday without thought or concern – just like that – by myself.
Asher’s closing words in today’s article: ”We keep going until every thought is correctly aligned to the obedience and purity of Yeshua.”
This morning some old prickles rose up again in a relationship.
Physical, mental, spiritual; ”We keep going….” Thank you Lord for YOUR encouragement towards LOVE & RIGHTEOUSNESS & perfection.

That’s such a great and clear explanation of strongholds. Are you familiar with Dr. Caroline Leaf, the neuroscientist who’s done extensive research on the brain and “detoxing” our wrong thoughts? Her message is very similar to yours. Thanks for the helpful article. Carol Reid/Bend, Oregon

A ‘synapse’ is not a storage cell, but the means by which information is electronically transferred from cell to cell.

Many years ago I read in one of those giant unabridged dictionaries the definition of an idea, a greek word transliterated into English. I read this definition: “A transcending entity that desires to manifest in present reality.” To transcend simply means to go from one realm to another, ie., from the spirit to our physical. An entity is a persona – in legal parlance something that can be sued. I would call it a messenger or “anglos” from which we transliterate “Angel.”
In my experience since the day I memorized this definition (and I have never been able to find it again?!), I came to understand that I do not originate any thought, but only choose between good and bad messengers, angels from the Lord or demons from our enemy and choose which ones I will manifest or act out in my present reality, or day to day living. The more of God’s Word I store in my heart; the more of the Lord’s presence I live in each day, the easier it is to discern between good and evil thoughts that come. Hebrews 5:9

I don’t know much about brain cells. I do know some victory over sins I did not think I could defeat by standing on the Lord’s Word and taking captive the thoughts of the enemy and bringing them before the Lord to dispel. You are very right; Spiritual warfare is very real and very necessary. Thank you for being our teacher and hearing from the Lord.

Yes, such a good teaching thank you! I love that line in David’s reply, “The more of God’s Word I store in my heart; the more of the Lord’s presence I live in each day,…” Wow- that is exceptional. Now I’m going to go look up idea in ALL my dictionaries.
