Prayer is the primary engine of Kingdom extension.

Many other religions were founded and spread by the sword, like Islam. However, our faith is to be spread by the supernatural weapons of preaching the Gospel and laying down our lives for others. This may look weak and foolish. We read in II Corinthians 10:4 that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds. Prayer is that mighty weapon in our arsenal to be used constantly.

Yeshua taught that we are to pray, “Your Kingdom come, your will be done.” This is a prayer to be empowered to establish God’s rule in every sphere of which we are a part, to extend this Kingdom to the lost, and lastly, to desire His return. Prayer affects the progress of the Gospel and the perfecting of the Body of Believers. Matthew 7 is in the context of Kingdom extension. Yeshua said,

Matt. 7:7-8
“Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened”

Where two or three agree, there is great power. How much more when a hundred fervently agree! The kind of prayer that works is “Will of God” prayer. When we dwell in the Vine, we know His heart. Yeshua promises us that we will have whatever we ask if we so abide (John 15:7). In John 14:13, Yeshua says, I will do whatever you ask in my name so that Father may be glorified in the Son. Praying in His name is not a magic formula. In the Hebraic context this means praying according to the meaning of His name, the essence of who He is. Our desires become as His.

James, after a description of the power of Elijah’s prayer, wrote, The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteousness man avails much.   Individual and corporate prayer meetings and fasting are essential for the extension of the Kingdom. If this is so, we will be happy if we will obey and practice this truth. The great movements that have extended the Kingdom of God were birthed and fostered by prayer. Great saints of old have testified to the power of such prayer, from George Mueller, the English minister to orphans, to Hudson Taylor, the founder of Chinese missions to Heidi Baker today in Africa. We join in embracing this orientation.
