Certainly. If it happened in Persia (ancient Iran), it could happen today. When the nations of the world unite to try to destroy Israel, the Christian community internationally will have to decide which side to be on.
Like Pharaoh, he claims worship and god-like status. Like Pharaoh he persecutes the people of God and seems to be overcoming them. Like Pharaoh he has his false prophets.
There is a biblical figure referred to as the Antichrist who is described as the “man of sin”-- the fullness of evil in human flesh. There is just one person who will fulfill these prophecies in the end times. He has not yet been revealed. Yet, at the same time, "antichrist" is also a prophetic type, or pattern, that can be fulfilled by many people in different times and places.
